Project Catton

Veteran Cyril Catton was battling cancer last year when he willed his home in Miami Gardens to a great friend and fellow Veteran, Reginald Colley. While at Cyril's bedside in the hospital Reg made a promise to Cyril that he would turn his home into a home for the Veterans. Sadly Cyril Catton passed away on November 10, 2006. However, now in his honor Reg Colley has been passionately working to renovate the home into a sustainable home for the Veterans.

Located in Miami Gardens the home is planned on housing up to 12 Veterans with a detached cottage for temporary day housing. Working from donations from The Home Depot, Hands on Miami and various local Service Members and Veterans Reg is set to completely renovate the home with ideals of sustainable design at the forefront.

The University of Miami EGB has made site visits to the home meeting with Reg and reviewing design and "green" systems ideas for the renovation. Recently completing documentation of the house we will be hosting a design charrette shortly to generate ideas on the best renovation practices for the Veterans home.

Stay tuned for updates and progress reports on this home renovation.
